First Indian Sign Language Dictionary Launched:
- The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has launched the First Indian Sign Language Dictionary of 3000 words.
- As per 2011 Census, there are 5071007 deaf people and 1998535 with speech disability in India.
- The Dictionary has been developed by Indian Sign Language Research & Training Centre under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
5th Maize Summit 2018 inaugurated:
- The 5th edition of India Maize Summit 2018 was recently inaugurated by Radha Mohan Singh (Agriculture Minister )at FICCI, New Delhi.
- Maize is also known as the ‘Queen of Cereals’.
- Maize is the third most important foodgrain in India after wheat and rice.
ISRO(Indian Space Research Organisation) ties up with BHEL for
the production of Space Grade Lithium-Ion Cells:
Indian Space
Research Organisation (ISRO) has signed Technology Transfer Agreement (TTA)
with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) for manufacturing Space Grade
Lithium-Ion cells.
This new technology will enable BHEL to produce space grade
Lithium-Ion cells which will fulfill India’s space program requirements.
23rd March- World Meteorological Day observed:
- The World Meteorological Day is observed globally on 23rd March Every year.
- The theme for this year is as- “Weather-Ready, Climate Smart”.
Emergency revoked in Maldives:
- Maldives President Abdulla Yameen has revoked a 45 day long state of emergency amid heavy protest in the country.
- Initially, the emergency was imposed for 15 days after Supreme Court quashed conviction against nine opposition leaders.Later, the emergency was extended for another term of 30 days.
African Continental Free Trade Area:
- An agreement has been signed in Rwanda, creating one of the world’s largest free trade blocs named as African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
- The agreement has been signed by 44 African countries from 55 members of the African Union (AU).
- AfCFTAwill provide an opportunity to bring 1.2 billion people of African Continent together having a combined GDP of more than $2 trillion.
Record Global Carbon emissions
in 2017: IAE International Energy Agency
- As per the latest report of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global carbon dioxide CO2 emissions have risen to a historic high of 32.5 gigatonnes in 2017.
- It was due to higher demand of energy and over 70% of global energy demands growth was met by oil, natural gas and coal.
Chandigarh Becomes North Side India’s 1st City to Install Digital Automatic Speed Gun Cameras
Chandigarh has just be the first city in
North part India to install Automatic Speed Gun Cameras with
digital displays for traffic management.
New tech cameras are equipped with night vision technology and will record the speed of traffic, helping Chandigarh Police department to issue challans to anyone driving above the city speed limits. Chandigarh also happens to be among very few cities to accept driving on high-beam inside the city limits as a punishable offence.

BIRAC Celebrated 6th Foundation
Day
The
Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council in short(BIRAC) under the ministry and Department of Biotechnology have celebrated its sixth foundation day in New Delhi with the
launching of a partnership with PerkinElmer (the US-based multinational
corporation).
The new partnership is designed to promote a
portfolio of Indian-led revenue-based innovations and startups in
multidisciplinary areas comprising of medical devices, point of care
products, algorithms and software in thrust areas.

Junior ISSF World Cup Shooting
Indian shooter player Elavenil Valarivan shattered
the qualification world record in 10-meter women’s air rifle
event of the season’s first junior ISSF(International Shooting Sport
Federation) World Cup held in Sydney in Australia.
Arjun Babuta bagged his second junior world cup
medal in same palce a bronze in men’s 10-meter air rifle event.
